Rail trails provide people of all ages attractive, safe and accessible places to bike, walk or run. As a candidate for Baltimore County Council I want to establish a local rail trail, connecting Ruxton-Pikesville-Owings Mills-Reisterstown.
The two pathways are the active CSX rail line, which parallels Reisterstown Road from Pikesville to Reisterstown, and a long abandoned branch of the North Central rail line from Robert E. Lee Park, paralleling Falls Road - HIllside Road - Green Spring Valley Road to Reisterstown Road.
This project is in keeping with the national rails to trails movement and as a former State Delegate I know it can be done. For detailed information on trails nationwide see railstotrails.org.
