Start the trip with a short portage, right side, around small a power company dam. After 2 miles, you encounter the Dam No. 4 impoundment and powerboats. The scenery degrades with the development on the West Virginia shore. At Dam No. 4, the portage is to the left. Williamsport to Dam No. 4 is a 16 mile, 5 hour trip. To reach Dam No. 4, take I-70 to Md. 65, south, right on Md. 63, left to Dam No. 4 Rd.
