This is another pleasant 4 miles. The paddle into Shepherdstown is impressive with a nice view of the Bavarian Inn overlooking the river at the James Rumsey Bridge. James Rumsey demonstrated in the first working steamboat here in 1787.

The bridge is being rebuilt, making a take-out on the Maryland side difficult. There is a launching site in Shepherdstown, two lefts past Shepherds college football field.
