--- LITTLE ORLEANS TO HANCOCK ---

The run is a 17 miles, 5 hour trip. This is the longest section between boat ramps facilities. However, if you are able to portage for a short distance, there is a nice spot at Cohill Station 11 miles below Little Orleans. As a take out, you need a little memory to spot the site. To reach the site, take Md 144 west from Hancock to Willow (the road after Round Top Rd.) The launching site is on the other side of the Canal footbridge. The scenery is good with pretty mountain views. The river glides swiftly.

To reach Hancock take Exit 3 of I-70, to Main St., left at Pennsylvania Ave. If you need a hot shower and/a place to stay, the C&O Bicycle has it. 301- 610-6665
