Why is this park different from other Maryland parks? It has a 400 acre“living museum” within its borders, namely the Adkins Arboretum.Notwithstanding a stuffy-sounding name, Adkins Arboretum is a naturelover’s attraction. Its 4 miles of paths wanders through a rich landscape ofmeadows and woodlands featuring Eastern Shore’s native plants andtrees.

The surrounding park has a 60 acre lake for boating and fishing. TheTuckahoe Creek flows through the park for much of a 5 mile canoe trip.The creek meanders through a woody jungle and a flooded swamp forest toprovide canoeist a nice flat water experience. For the bike riders, it hasquiet, Eastern Shore backroads. To reach the park, take the alternateOcean City route of US 50 to Md. 404. Then to Md 48 to Eveland Road.
